Air Force Band | Remembrance Day 2024

At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month – we pause to remember them. ️❤❤
 
This year marks a number of significant anniversaries and periods of service, including the 110th anniversary of the beginning of the First World War, the 80th anniversary of events in 1944, and the 25th anniversary of Australian service in Timor-Leste.
 
Today we acknowledge, honour and remember the courage and sacrifice of those who have fought and lost their lives in service to our nation in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
 
From within the inner sanctuary of the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance, Leading Aircraftman Christopher Grace plays Sunset with the Air Force Band Brass Quintet in honour of all who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

This historical trumpet call, also known as the Retreat, once signalled the end of the day and the commencement of the evening watch in camp.
