min 2:27: The magnetic field is not the only reason why Earth keeps its atmosphere. The gravitational field of Earth is much stronger than that of Mars. Look at Venus: Venus is exposed to stronger solar winds than Earth and has a really thick atmosphere. OK, most of it is carbon dioxide, heavy molecules. But our nitrogen and oxygen molecules are also heavy enough, so we don't need to fear the loss of our atmosphere if our magnetic field switches off.

They said that today's mars isn't capable of supporting liquid water... Didn't we just find out it is?

Thinking in terms of SciFi/Fantasy: Mars's, at least at the surface, has a high iron content -- hence the red. Iron is very magnetic. Would it be possible to engineer, build, and install, a distributed system that aligns the iron and thereby provides Mars with a magnetic field? Would such a field, once established, be self-sustaining? Would an atmosphere, no longer severely hampered by solar wind, necessarily develop? (thanks for the video.)

Mars had not a decent core to create a shield....Hopefully in this time SUN strip aways come heavy Venus atmosphere!! What do you mean COCO???

they will make the evidence fit the assumption.. how about the plasma current that made the biggest scared feature on mars, it carved it out like cheese.. eu
