Now I understand what happened... I had a few losses that coincide with my Rowaphos usage! You are a wealth of knowledge!! Thanks for all you do.

Tank looks amazing - so glad to hear that monti came back and is doing awesome ;) Great tips as always. I regret not picking up some iodine as a disinfectant - store talked me out of it but it may have saved the torches I got there. I love the fish selection - look amazing at feeding time ;)

Your Coraline algae looks absolutely amazing. I haven’t had Coraline that looked that great since the 90s.

so happy you added this video NOW. It's been two weeks since I've added my first rainbow monti and a green hystrix. They've been model citizens - I put them on a random spot and I already see them growing. Unlike the stupid xenia which seems miserable 😣 7 ppm nitrates and 0.01 phosphates is enough for it.

Alex as always another great video! I think I see a flow video coming. Perhaps something along the lines of the maxspect gyre 300 series versus ecotech marine Vortex series etc.
Have a good weekend.

My dads friend has a 100 gallon mixed reef with about 50% sps (digi monti, plating monti, acropora, pocillopora, stylophora You name an sps he has it) and his par in the sps area is only 200 to 300 but his tank turn over rate is X113! at its mostly focused at the top with the acros and montis and only a handful at lower levels for lps and he even has some soft corals

This was helpful.
What puts me off corals is all the lingo. I wish there was a dummys guide/glossary. Acros, softies, leathers (kinky corals?) sps that look like lps, zoas etc etc. What goes in what group? Anemone, I know that one. Until I saw a coral that looked like an anemone. Aaarggh

Great video. I wish I learnt about 3 mo this ago that my phosphates were really low and now not detectable and losing all my montipora digitata. It basically starved. First they all went pale then started to strip one colony at a time. Heartbreaking hobby sometimes.

I was always afraid to try acropora but found out in the past 6 months they aren't as difficult as there made out

should i try pulse mode on them.
they are vectra MP40s
any help many thanks and keep up the good work.

For some reason I don't have luck with SPS in my 220 gallon tank. All the parameters are in place, I confirmed this with an ICP test and my daily Trident testing. I have 4 Radeon XR15 pros and what I consider to be great flow. I have flow coming from my return, 2 mp40's, a gyre and a Nero 5. I used a PAR meter to make sure I meet the PAR requirements for a mixed reef tank. I've tried acropower and reef energy (not at the same time) but no luck whatsoever. Tank is 2 years old and my Euphylia do just fine. I just don't get it!

Great video Alex! I noticed that you have a lot of deep red on you rocks. Is that coralline algae? I have it in my 32 gallon biocube. I used to have cyano bacteria, but it is gone now, I think. it was the same colour.

Thank you! My parameters are not stable enough yet for sps. Monti frags fade out after a month or 2.
Still just doing reading.

Just learned
GFO drops alk.
Iodine is probably a touch low in many tanks.
Another reminder that 'washing machine' flow is probably as/more important than lighting.

Thank you!

My Monte Carlo got so big it didn't get the floor it needed and started to bleach out that's what people don't realise in an aquarium with makers slow down calves get bigger say you're always fighting for more flow
