Have been using possession playstyle since day one. Like everything in this game, it’s genuinely difficult to measure how things are playing out from a tactical perspective.
I think the devs have at least on the patch notes to modify the playstyle over the years and I think, it’s in a better state than it was at launch.
The bull in a shop approach most opponents use because of the complete ignoring of how fouls are not called, can cripple your attempts at controlling play.
If you don’t get the fouls called, then you have to play a faster give and go passing attack and try to slow it down to suit the possession style.

For those that use the main two styles, hats off to you, I can’t play that way, my hands will just seize up 😂

As you said Barry, there’s always going to be games where you have zero control over your players and the opponent is simply better or something. When that happens, just have to be cool and shrug it off.

One thing people have to know is just because Barry said possession doesn’t mean possession play style, you can play "long ball counter", "quick counter " etc but still play with a possession mindset. The key is not to just spam through balls but building up your play and making sure you dominate the match.

In short, you can play possession with every other play style

defense is never high enough I play possession since start, you can easily handle counter by not pressing and staying in pass lines., just wait the pass spam and one pass will be bad as those spammers never make a pass back, and always forward.. I play with regular player team, not even gift cards as a challenge my team is 2750 and i just reached d3 winning a lot quick counter 3050+ team, they are so predictable.

Playing possession just mean adapt, playing half of your pass to the (slightly) back not rush even when you outnumber, the back pass is now so effective because it trigger the defender and swap the cursor, the defender moves up and there you have a hole behind the defense..really easy now in possession... what a lot player actually dont do they need to go fast fast fast (why.... i don't know)

BTW it is funny to see how many qc player use roman just for the +1 overall but still spam triangles ...

Division 1 player and always played possession style. Attackers should occasionally go deep without the ball. I truly hope that they fix this asap

I tried possession quite a lot, and enjoy it, but my main gripes are that I'll go to play a through ball to a winger and he'll drop back to receive the ball instead, I've had opportunities to play it to a CF in the box and the CF will start dropping back instead. I want a DM just to occupy an area and not push up, but even with defence on them they tend to push up to receive a pass incase you play it back, but that makes it more dangerous for a counter. It can be very enjoyable, but can also be very frustrating. Fantastic content as always Barry 👌

Buddy, I like playing possession but once I get a goal I have to go all blue, specially against quick counter😂😂 cause them mofos be sweaty once you lose the ball

Played MyLeague Possssion for a season or two, every now and then I had a game that I got countered, I like the passing, the availibilty of the players and since the last patch even the movement with the right playstyles. But the backline is just too high

Possession is one of the best playstyle in this game, or maybe the best, but the problem is the high defense, and also sometimes you need to do a quick counter and the players doesn't respond to it they just stay standing or come to take the ball for a short passes, which is bad,
I think Konami didn't do well for this tactics
The whole tactics in this game is full of mistakes to be honest,

How are getting so much time on ball? When I play I get overwhelmed with press like seriously 3 players pressing together, I just have no pass no matter how quick I try to play

Great video Barry, opponent cant score if they dont have the ball. Look at them stats 0 chances for him 🤷‍♂️ my only moan about the managers is why is there not managers for all the playstyles with the same proficiency, so Pep has 88 so should Klopp, Tuchel, Dyche and Simeone so its fair for each playstyle. Its a video game ffs come on Konami.

I'm myself do play possession game,
But I do hate when I see the defense line comes so high to press and get the ball,
That is completely redicilous,
The buildup
The attacking area
The positining
The defense style
All this should be in this game, unfortunately they didn't do it
And that is exactly why lot of people play that formation that's called meta or whatever is that bullshit is,
And that why people play quick counter attack
That is just stupid
