Nice one, I will teach my 7 year old nice.
BTW You could take the colored paper from the envelope at the beginning, that way there is a reason for the envelope being there.
Also if you use a envelope with two compartments the envelope can be clean on the outside.

Great magic trick!...and very little "skill" needed!...BTW... A variation of this trick was done in a Columbo episode (showing my age) where the magician (who was also the murderer by the way) would ask the spectator (Lt. Columbo in this case) to pick a number between 1 and 5... spectator might say "4" and the magician would reply, "look under the phone" and under the phone was a note that said "You''ll pick 4"...similarly under say, the lamp would be a note that said, ""You''ll pick 3", and so on...

I’ve done a trick with this principle where I shuffle the deck and put down 4 piles of 4 cards, I had my buddy narrow it down to only 1 4 card pile, I had him name one of the 4 cards, and that’s where this method comes in. Only words he said after the trick…”OH STOP IT!! 😆”

You can do this with 5 or 6 objects, force three using equivoque, then use the three outs.

Don’t write on the outside of the envelope buy a pen that says you will choose green and have the spectator .2 their card with that pen. It’s cleaner.

Interesting but in closeup there’s too much stuff you don’t want the person, or people standing around, to touch.

Just write it under all the coloured cards. No need for envelope.
