I never understand people sitting in their houses (that were once built) complaining about other houses being built for people to live in now. How ridiculous 😅

Immigration already stood at 3000 people per year in 1953, rose to 46, 800 by 1956 and yet further to 136, 400 by 1961.
Life continued and the country boomed.
The fact that Farage (and so many of the recently departed Tories) has managed to convince people that current levels are unprecedented, unsustainable and unmanageable only goes to show what dishonest spiv he truly is.

The choice is clear; maintain a responsible, organized and ethical immigration system in order to further develop the country and it's economy, or wither on a diet of half-truths, lies and fear mongering from populists such as Farage.

People don't complain about the homes being built round by me. They complain that they forget to upgrade the existing road infrastructure or build the green spaces and schools to go with them.

Redrow are buying up lots of farm land around me - Chester West - a semi rural area. Houses are £350k+, and it has devastated wildlife, caused severe flooding, and increased traffic 100fold! Not to mention ruined the beautiful landscape.

Hi James, just wanted to say i love listening to LBC especially your slot but all the podcasters are absolutely fantastic including the background team. I stumbled across LBC only recently when the riots happened and i was extremely pleased how openly and candidly you presenters spoke about the immigration, racism and far right wing, this conversation has been long over due especially the rights of already existing immigrants. It has also been absolutely fascinating to listen to those that feel their country has been hijacked by the immigrants, the narrow minded mentality which cannot see past its own backyard was shocking. Keep up the hard work LBC and well done for going deeply into where not many do.

Food producing farm land shouldn't be used when non arable land is nearby. That said housing must be built and compromises are probably a necessity.

As the most damaged country in the world in terms of bio-diversity with the potential collapse of eco-systems, it strikes me that the (1) The million + empty properties and (2). Brown field sites first and foremost need to be explored as an option. Just considering the water situation in isolation - these new towns if built, will need to be supported by new sewage systems and plants being modernised to accommodate the increase in effluents. Otherwise, river pollution will continue to be an issue. Yeah on the point of is it such a big deal - a new estate? I think most people just get on with it and accept it, but that still means eco-systems suffer and if you're aware of that and care, that's of some concern.

Green Belt was defined to provide the "lungs" of towns and cities.

Why shouldn't the focus be on building houses on so-called "brown field" sites.

It has been done on part of Ford's plant a Dagenham. Yes, there are pollution problems with some "brown field" sites but by no means is it a problem with all "brown field" sites.

There are also issues with building houses in areas without adequate sewage facilities and to make sure that the new builds do not damage the flood plains.
