New State of Matter Found

Scientists have found evidence of a hidden state of matter that exists between solid and liquid. This new state, called "glassy liquid,” is found in amorphous solids, which are materials that lack the regular atomic structure of crystals. In a glassy liquid, the atoms are still arranged randomly, like in a liquid, but they are also less mobile, like in a solid. This gives the material some of the properties of both liquids and solids. The researchers found that, in the glassy liquid state, the atoms are able to move around more easily than in a solid, but they are still more restricted than in a liquid. This is an important discovery as it could also lead to the development of new materials with unique properties, such as materials that are more resistant to deformation or that have better thermal conductivity.

we need a video on the states of matter .

Cats have been straddling the line between solid and liquid for centuries, and still scientists haven’t even heard of them. Crazy

To summarise, researchers discovered slime.

Is the glassy liquid half full, half empty, or half baked?

This sounds like the more solid version of a non Newtonian fluid

I think I may have seen a liquid glassy state once. It was a lake that had frozen over for some time then been partly blown clear. So we were in a skiff trolling in open water alongside a5-6” shelf of ice. As the day started to close and chill the open water started to freeze in what appeared to be immense 20’ long ice crystals. Yet they were only millimeters thick, easily bending and moving with the ripples from our boat. We cut thru them but they simply reformed as soon as we went through. Very trippy experience.

So; we just now discovered viscosity?

If this is actually a thing, then it is has to be extremely difficult to maintain matter in this state as any amount of energy applied will send it into the liquid state.

Call it glass - known to be a liquid since antiquity.

We've tested this by melting ice on solid ground and in water. We can definitely see glassy liquid.

Sometimes when working with a puddle of metal it will get shiny and its movement can be more predictable than when its full of porosity or bubbles.

This has been known since the heating of matter.

You mean like a pseudo solid ? Glass is a pseudo solid.

at what temperature & pressure is this observed?

Actually one of the most likely uses for these kinds of materials is for shock-absorbing protection and building materials that have tensile and torsional strength with less rigidity.
