Scientists Have Created a Supersolid State of Matter in a New Dimension.

Solid, liquid, gas, and plasma. A simple and orderly hierarchy of matter that schoolchildren the world over can recite. But what if we could combine the properties of two of these and create a whole new hybrid form of matter that seemingly violates known laws of physics?

For example, think of a solid-liquid combination, along the lines of the sci-fi classic Terminator 2: Judgment Day. You would theoretically get the crystalline structure of a solid that flows like a liquid, and its possible applications are mind-blowing.

And now it’s no longer theoretical.

In today’s video we reveal a stunning leap forward by physicists who have combined what appears to be mutually exclusive properties into an entirely new state of matter—the supersolid!

Heisenberg: Holy smokes!, you scared me, didn't think you'd actually be here! d0_0b
God:...dÓ_Õb...
Heisenberg: Anyway, know you're busy, what with the universe and all, got a quick ques..
God: (interrupting) dU_Ub I know your queries, I just think things- and they happen! That IS the answer!, but you don't have to worry about that!
Heisenberg: dó_Ób Okay?, .. just was thinking there was more to it than that..You know we were thin...
God: dÒ_Ób Well, theres not, but like I said, YOU don't have to worry about that, not where you're going!
Heisenberg: d○_○b oh dam...
God: Yep! d>_0b...sheeze, physicists....especially the theoretical ones! OMSelf!

I made the same thing. Once I had a burrito supreme and then two bowls of cornflakes. It was definitely a supersolid. It had both the qualities of a solid and liquid. There was quite a bit of gas to as I remember. I thought I had created plasma for a while there.

about 20 years ago, I remember hearing of a fluid that could drastically change its viscosity with electrical current. it was being used in an automatic transmission in an automobile. So it had a friction free slip state and a solid drive state.

This already exists, it's called Jell-O

Fascinating, I wonder if they could use that frictionless property to make a frictionless dynamo to create a true perpetual power generator. 1 million years is not quite forever but its certainty better than what we got now.

DO THIS IN SPACE.. less energy to produce a Super cold environment.. I think we will discover a lot of other phenomenon in zero-gravity.. I believe we'll be able to create a nano-wormhole to send digital data faster than light.. subspace communications.. imagine controlling all the robots and AIs on Mars or any other planet, to build structures for human habitation .. we can use VR / AR technologies from earth to control them.. is that visionary? :D

We're just getting started in understanding the working principles of mother nature!

Curious if anyone studied the boundaries between the dimensions during the experiment wondering about if it changed the density of them during the interactions.

There has to be so many more types of matter/materials that we haven't discovered yet. I can't wait to see what we learn about the composition of exoplanets

it is theoretically IMPOSSIBLE to create any object with less than 3 dimensions. That "one dimensional" stream may be ALMOST one dimensional but every atom or molecule will still have SOME thickness even if only a VERY TINY AMOUNT. There is literally no such thing (in our universe) as an object that is other than 3 dimensional.

Now if we can use this super solid as lubricant for electromagnetic generators, we might be able to achieve "near" perpetual motion.

What's the most mysterious thing about the universe?

I would think that we are going to see huge advances but also huge abuse in this field.

This is NOT frictionless, which by definition is contact between 2 or more DIFFERENT substances. This is INTERNAL movement. Like water in a hose pipe, the difference with a super solid is that it is the HOSE PIPE traveling THROUGH the hose pipe, FRICTIONLESSLY. True frictionless motion by definition would be the HOSE PIPE itself moving frictionlessly on the Earth's surface. Good job guys, hope you get more funding.

It sounds like the repulsion of electrons that prevents us from passing through walls is suspended or avoided

Does this help to understand the internal mechanics of stars with their helium components?

I also thought about astrophysics and how this may help our understanding of celestial bodies. I would think that this would b a hard state to keep it in on earth in any large capacity.

Is the helium superfluid the key to perpetual motion?

Ok, now use it inside donut and spin it faster and faster with magnets and hold it in with a magnet too to counteract centrifugal force and just keep adding energy to the system until it approaches light speeed and drags space and time with it. This is how you travel to the stars. Don’t even say we didn’t tell you how…

I listened to the whole clip, and understood about 5 words... amazing technological advancements
