Impossible Climbing Technique ✋

#shorts #short This is the Impossible Hand Jam and goes against everything we've ever taught anyone about hand jamming. Usually the 3 steps to hand jams are
1. Make an L-shape and insert into the crack
2. Tuck the thumb inside the palm and towards the little finger, to expand the thumb meat and make it solid.
3. Finger bar across the crack with your fingers to give extra support

However the impossible hand jam, takes away point 2 and 3 and has your hand levitatting inside the crack in just an L-shape position. Give it ago and let us know how you get on!

I presume you’re counterrotating your hands into the crack? So that the friction is across the width of your hand? ie one side of your thumb and the opposite side t your little finger?

I find it hard on some local cracks to get the thumb in sometimes. I do have bigger hands so it ends up being a cup type hold.

So... you compress the thumb in towards the fingers, without folding, and because it's such a narrow crack that thickens the pad just enough? Am I even close?
