I cannot stress this enough: drive like the rules of the road are just suggestions to other drivers. Your green light doesn't mean their red light will protect you. I *never* hit the gas after my light turns green without looking both ways because of idiots who run red lights. I *never* turn left across oncoming traffic unless I can clearly see I can do so safely. Sometimes, it's just not your day. But you can help yourself out by simply not trusting other drivers to follow the rules.

This video hits hard for me. I lost my mom and my younger brother in a car accident last week. They were hit by a drunk driver on their way home from my brother’s basketball game. I’m only 12 and still have my teen year in front of me, but I don’t have the best relationship with my dad like I did with my mom and will have to navigate this hard time on my own
