No South Africa sequenced the virus mutation and traced it back to many Southern Africa countries including Botswana and Zambia. Please fact check or differentiate the difference between countries. Since it has been identified and travel bans have ensued, some cases from homebound traveler cases in the EU have been traced to SA.

A private medical investigation also says that Netherlands was discovering the Omicrom before SA disclosed this new covid variant. Netherlands didn't make announcement because it tried to figure out what, where and how it happened.
