Atlantic Circle - InConversation: Island Life in Two Hemispheres

In this talk, Eleuthera (Ella) du Breuil, UWCA '04, described her time working for the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) on the sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia and volunteering with NGOs on the island of Lesvos in the Aegean, aiding migrants crossing by small boats from Turkey. Ella gave a brief history of the island of South Georgia and described her time and day to day life there. She also briefly touched on the political situation in the Aegean and described some of the times she has been on Lesvos volunteering. Ella is currently a paramedic dividing her time between working with the London Ambulance Service and volunteering in humanitarian situations, mostly in the Mediterranean.
