no real need for heat shielding. it's a one way trip. the main issue getting them up there, one of them anyway, is fitting all the bombs designed to be dropped/launched from aircraft to rockets to send them to space. then after they get up there you have to deal with the EMP's they'll produce. and remember, these are ballistic missles the warheads are on. they'll get to space but they won't be in orbit. once the fuel is gone, the weapon WILL return to the surface and there is nothing you can do to stop it. aside from putting them on bigger rockets.
