They could have kept it in production for another decade using the RD-RB cab. Evidently the set back axle CL700 replaced it and the early CL700 s had E9 V8s until 1993. But the E9 V8 couldn’t meet 1994 onward emission standards.

I was privileged to drive 2 Superliner’s ; the first was the special edition Magnum of which my company had two. Mine was built for running all back roads pulling a bucket but the original buyer didn’t take delivery so my boss bought it. It wasn’t fast on the highway due to it’s 5:02 rears topping out at 64 mph at 1900 rpm’s but it would probably due 64 up a 30% grade. It also was a true full screw; it had no power divider so both rears were always pulling. The only problem with this was trying to do tight maneuvering on snow or slippery dirt
The second was a 92 fully dressed
This one also had the E-9 Magnum putting 500 horses on the ground but this one had 4:42 rears topping out at 83 mph. But this one had the twin outside air cleaners with twin 6 inch stacks and polished aluminum wheels and tanks. This one had the Williams air throttle which was turned up to put 690 horses on the ground that gave it 8 mpg since it wasn’t working hard. Plus it was a daycab that had the cabover style air ride cab and shocks ; the air bags were larger than usual and mounted in the corners of the cab along with the shocks. It really rode nice
Sure wish I had this one today
