You are so right about what a game changer auto steer is, and as far as it making farming easier, it could, but the smart money uses it as a force multiplier, increasing productivity. Autonomy is here in reality. I’d love to be able to spend more time behind my equipment, watching how well it’s doing the job.

On my farm I e found that there is no more yield but product savings(spray and N). Way more savings then I thought. My only regret is I didnt do it years ago!

Autosteer with AgOpenGPS is cheap. Around 1-2k $ per machine if you build it yourself.

All of the things that "can" add value, you didn't touch on. Eliminating guess row width variance to optimize sun utilization, auto row/boom shutoff reducing use of inputs, etc. Showing it has merit by being on a tractor running a soil finisher is precisely showing that farmers are lazy. Have it on a belly mount row cultivator where 1/2" side to side and a 1/10th of a mph can make a huge difference, THAT will make you mentally exhausted at the end of the day. I remember being so focused on my "gauge row" (you make one row ever so slightly tighter than the rest and watch that row to align yourself), when I looked away from it, the world would move...you're that locked in. Running a soil finisher is boring enough without autosteer.
