051 - Work Energy Principle

In this video Paul Andersen explains how the kinetic energy gained by an object is equivalent to the work done on the object. The force on the object must act parallel or antiparallel to the motion of the object to do work. Several problems related to this equivalence are included.

Awesome videos! at 4:22 you mention that the F perpendicular has no effect because this example is not including friction. I think it would have been worth while to mention that in a real life situation the Force of friction would have been reduced by the perpendicular force, and would have affected the total distance travelled by conserving some of the energy.

Good Job Bozeman, this video is much clearer than others I have seen on the same topic. I enjoyed the questionnaire at the end.

Hey!
I think it might be a silly question, but I have a problem understanding the case where the cart is initially going to the left and is then subject to a force that pulls it to the right. In this case, the cart's displacement is to the right and the force is to the right so why is work negative?
In my opinion the cart, should have continued with a decreasing speed to the left, till v=0 (then work<0) and then accelerates to the right and work>0. No?

what about when the velocity is constant? how to measure work and kinetic energy and power of a mass that is having constant velocity (same velocity while initial and final)? thank you very much! (i like a lot your videos)
