what makes this more adorable is that in the Novel it tells how kong was feeling during this scene “he was fascinated that Godzilla calmed down when he saw Mothra and seemed to know her, even tho kong didn’t know her he didn’t feel threatened, he saw that Mothra was able to actually talk to him despite HIS efforts trying to speak with him, he saw how Godzilla seemed very peaceful when Mothra spoke to him, he felt like they were "family" despite not being the same species.”

Mothra is the Ying in Godzilla's Yang.

She is the one that keeps Godzilla cool headed and calm, after she died in KOTM, Godzilla became exponentialy more violente, with destroying citys in GVK to killing other Kaiju because of minor inconveniences, like Tiamat in GXK.
Now that she is back Godzilla might become more calm again.

We can see in this scene that the moment Godzilla saw Mothra his eyes softened.
