I really hope a universal plug becomes a thing, that and someway of the charger communicating with your car directly and charging your debit card directly, so do you don't need to mess about with an app in the future. Plug, charge and go!

I’ve had a plug in hybrid car for little over a year now, it’s covered nearly 6, 000 miles of mixed driving but most (almost 4, 500 in town) and on average has gotten around 2 miles per kilowatt. Here’s the kicker they don’t tell you with regards to public charging. At £1 connection fee and 30 pence per kilowatt, it can actually be more expensive than a petrol or diesel.
Fossil fuel at say £1.21 per litre x 4.54 (one gallon uk) = £5.49 per gallon
Average around town mpg of 28 = 21 pence per mile just in fuel
Electric public charging rate @ 30 pence per kilowatt unit = 15pence per mile x 28 = £4.20
Add the connection charge of £1 and it = £5.20 equivalent. 😬
Savings if they could be called that is only 29 pence 🤦🏻‍♂️

Plug in hybrids really are about charging at home where it may be around 11 pence per kilowatt or about £1.54 equivalent per gallon
