This year, we grew multiple pepper plants in the same pot together. We have some thoughts on the process, so in this video, we'll discuss the benefits and drawbacks. It was definitely a success in our eyes, with some great reasons to plant multiple peppers in one container.

I have ten 30 gallon fabric pots. I put 3 different pepper plants in each. The production on the plants in the 30 gallons was quite good - 30 to 50+ pods/plant depending on the plant. My goal was to try more varieties and limit watering frequency. Was a success on both accounts. If I had used 10gallon fabric pots, I probably would have had to water way more often. I also have ten 5 gallon self-irrigating containers (i.e., two 5 gallon buckets stacked, holes in the bottom of the top bucket, the bottom bucket is the water reservoir). The plants did very well in those buckets for the most part. Both methods have their merits.

I potted a jalopeno and a sweet pepper in a same pot. Both are doing great. I actually won't mind cross-pollination because it would be interesting to come up with a sweet pepper sized jalopeno or a bit hot sweet pepper. Of course I'll find out about that next year😉

We grow in 5 gallon and 25 gallon buckets I'm in South Texas so they pretty much grow and produce fruit until December we use pop up greenhouses to protect them during colder days we love watching your videos very informative.

Great video! I love to do this with my spare ornamentals each year to have a few pots of fun looking peppers throughout the garden!

Have you tried grafting the smaller plants onto the more vigorous plants and have them all grow off the same root system? It'd be interesting to see what the yield would look like in that scenario.

I purchased a 6 pack of Habenadas at the farmers market and put 2 in a self watering bucket fed with hydro nutrients. Those 2 are doing excellent but the others are not. I did a test on different growing conditions and self watering buckest are by far in the lead for production. Habenadas aren't heavy feeders though. I'll tag you on Instagram a picture of the plant when it starts to ripen. No idea when though the pods are huge but I never grew them before.

One other interesting experiment I did -- I identified two clusters of "volunteer" peppers this spring -- very rare in zone 7a but we had a very mild winter. I expect each cluster was the result of one pepper that fell on the ground and its seeds germinated like in the wild. I brought each cluster into a pot with good soil for a while, then planted them back in the ground in more convenient spots, and they are both producing peppers, though their development is about 3 months behind the ones I started from seed indoors. One looks like a Czech Black, the other a Matchbox.

I’m not a huge pepper fan but I wish I was. Growing them looks so fun and they look so pretty. I’m growing some jalapeños anyway.

I put 6 bell peppers in 1 pot (20gal) . Seems to be doing well I've harvested 5-6 peppers off each plant so far and looks like ill get about the same off them again soon. My zone 3 summer is short and this helped plant in warm soil sooner, I'll definitely be doing it again next year.

Please do episodes on over wintering plants. I have a large south facing bay window that brings in a lot of sunshine in the winter. I'm thinking of enclosing it with some temporary greenhouse (to increase the humidity), an space heater (the oil radiator kind) to increase the warmth in the space. I have several tropical culinary plants besides my peppers which I just started growing this year. Or, a basement greenhouse? I've read that trying to recreate the summer outdoors is not the way and that one should think of overwintering as a dormant period for the plants. Please elaborate. Thanks!

We have just pulled our capsicums out of where I was overwintering them but didn't want to put them back in the raised bed. So used some 25-gallon fabric pots instead, 3 to each one. They did alright last year, and since they have more space than last year, I densely planted them too close in the raised bed, thinking they will do ok. I am hoping that in 9 months I can just move the fabric pot without having to dig them up again. Have to wait and see.

I ended up with a thai chili and a Carolina reaper in a 2 gal pot. The thai makes short fat pepers that are mild(er) and sweet. The reaper plant is 2 stalks with few leaves currently 6 full pods +5+ littles (have not taisted yet). I do like the result so far.

you can make a new sauce from each pepper pot mixing two or three different varieties
