Connecticut-based firm Sikorsky will build the New Marine One helicopters used to transport the U.S. president, cabinet members and foreign dignitaries.

Based on Sikorsky's S-92a, the new VH-92's twin engines will allow it to reach a cruising speed of 175mph.

The aircraft will make use of encrypted communications and video conferencing gear for the up to 14 passengers it will carry in its executive-appointed cabin.

The VH-92 can jam radar in the case of emergency, and is specially hardened against electromagnetic pulse weapons.

It also has a longer range than the Sikorsky VH-3D Sea King, the helicopter currently used for Marine One flights. Sophisticated sensors and anti-aircraft countermeasures will help it evade attack.

A total of 21 aircraft will be built and all are expected to be delivered by 2023.
