Melbourne is one of the world's greatest cities and yes, one of its most liveable. It is also one of the world's best travel destinations and it offers the visitor an amazing number of attractions. This video details how to get around the city, where to eat, where to stay, where to get great coffee (many consider Melbourne the greatest coffee city on earth!), what there is to do and see in the city and the best day trips outside of Melbourne.

I hope you enjoy this video and please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE if you do. More videos about Melbourne and Australia (and New Zealand) coming soon. Thanks!

I admit to having a bias about Melbourne as I was born here and spent the first 11 years of my life in the City. I visit often and know the city like the back of my hand (although I do admit to having a hard time keeping up with the many changes in Melbourne over the years).

Some of the many attractions discussed in this video include the Queen Victoria Market, Sporting Events (tennis, Formula 1, cricket and the magnificent Aussie Rules Football), the Melbourne Zoo and Sealife, art and architecture and the famous Melbourne parks. The attractions outside of the city include the Great Ocean Road, the Mornington Peninsula, Phillip Island (the Penguin Parade), Puffing Billy and the Healesville Sanctuary.

More about Melbourne:
Melbourne, Australia, stands as a vibrant and captivating destination that seamlessly blends urban sophistication with a relaxed cultural charm. Renowned for its diverse culinary scene, thriving arts and music culture, and stunning architecture, Melbourne offers a rich tapestry of experiences that make it an irresistible city to visit.

One of Melbourne's most distinctive features is its reputation as a food lover's paradise. The city boasts an eclectic array of dining options, ranging from trendy cafes serving up artisanal coffee and breakfast delights to upscale restaurants offering innovative global cuisine. Wander through bustling food markets like Queen Victoria Market, where fresh produce, local delicacies, and international flavors converge. The city's multicultural population is reflected in its dining offerings, ensuring that every palate is catered to.

Melbourne's artistic spirit is palpable, with a thriving arts scene that embraces both traditional and contemporary forms. The iconic National Gallery of Victoria showcases an extensive collection of art spanning centuries and continents, while the street art scene in neighborhoods like Fitzroy and Collingwood transforms the city's walls into open-air galleries. The Melbourne Arts Precinct, anchored by the Arts Centre Melbourne and the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, serves as a hub for theatrical performances, concerts, exhibitions, and other cultural events.

Sporting enthusiasts will find Melbourne to be a haven as well. The city is synonymous with major international sporting events, such as the Australian Open, one of the Grand Slam tennis tournaments. The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) holds a revered place in the hearts of sports fans and hosts cricket matches, Australian Rules Football games, and concerts. The passion for sports is deeply ingrained in the local culture, making attending a live event an exhilarating experience.

Melbourne's design and architecture contribute to its unique appeal. The city seamlessly integrates historic landmarks with contemporary structures. The Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcases stunning 19th-century architecture. On the other hand, Federation Square's bold and modern design has become a meeting point and cultural hub. The city's blend of old and new provides an intriguing visual landscape for exploration.

Beyond its urban offerings, Melbourne serves as a gateway to natural beauty. Just a short drive away, the Great Ocean Road unveils breathtaking coastal vistas and iconic rock formations like the Twelve Apostles. Yarra Valley, renowned for its wineries and lush landscapes, offers a relaxing retreat for wine enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

As a Melbourne person, born and bred, thank you for such a wonderful video. You do a great job presenting a plethora of relevant and accurate information. Two minor corrections - the Great Ocean road is on the SW Victorian coast, not SE. And the best Australian Rules football team to support is Essendon, not Richmond.

A great summary of Melbourne; thank you! I've found it very helpful and comprehensive as I prepared and am now in MB.
One suggestion for the creator, however, is to extend the time allotted to the text boxes so the viewers can more easily absorb this important info you are sharing.

I stayed for five months in Melbourne four years back where my daughter is settled.Initially I found the city to be too quiet as compared to Indian cities. However I admired the civic sense of the citizens. We were taken to many places and my memory goes back to the Yarra river, Sky Deck on 88th floor, Caribbean market, Noble Park, Clayton, swanky malls, good restaurants etc.Definitely Melbourne is one of the most livable and lovable city.

I LOVE YOU MATE! lol ….. most tourists are told about Sydney or the Great Barrier Reef but often Melbourne isn’t mentioned. Yeah Sydney has the bridge and the opera house and I definitely wouldn’t stop anyone from seeing the Great Barrier Reef (while it’s still Alive), but Melbourne has everything else you could ever want!
Thank you for showing my beautiful home town to the rest of the world!
Good onya mate 😊
