The BMW i4 really surprised me as an excellent electric sedan. In this video I compare it to the Tesla Model 3.

Tesla: fast 0-60, and monthly subscription for auto-pilot, and that's where the advantages end. BMW: quality, better handling, better comfort, and to this day, Tesla continues to have the highest buyers remorse, and top number of people trading them in for better cars...why? Because there's no point in having a fast 0-60 car if it's a crap car

I drove both, bought the Just so much higher quality materials, fit and finish, and it drives so well. Don't get me wrong, I like the Tesla, it's a nice drive, seamless tech integration, but for me I want a car, and I like quality, so BMW was an easy win. On my i4, when I change drive modes the range forecast changes immediately, e.g I am in eco pro mode, range is 300 kms, change to sport mode, the range forecast will drop to 275 kms immediately, and will increase when go back to eco Great car, my first EV, very happy with it

19:53 For those wondering about decibels and how it relates linearly here you go…

Each 10-decibel increase corresponds to a tenfold increase in sound intensity. So, if you go from 50 to 60 decibels, it’s not a 10% increase – it’s actually 10 times more intense sound. The logarithmic nature reflects our perception of sound, where small changes in decibels represent larger changes in how we perceive loudness.

Don't forget that BMW also had the i3 (later becoming the Mini Cooper SE) which they put a lot of R&D into through the lifecycle. So they have two long term EVs to build off of...

really appreciate doing the sound noise test. For a luxury car review, it is a must do.

Need to do a highland test now! Build quality, ride quality, and noise are much better than our 22 model 3. Great video as always and the i4 is a great car as well

I am glad you did this review with the old Model 3, it gives us a baseline. Looking forward to seeing your Model 3 Highland review. I like the i4 too, much nicer overall.

I’ve had both and the i4 is superior. The ambient light in the new model 3 look like glow sticks. The i4 feels more luxurious

Great video! We recently traded our Model 3 LR for a new i4 M50. Your pros/cons for each car are spot on. For us, we greatly prefer the i4. There's no comparison for the build and ride quality. Disclaimer: We pretty much only charge at home, so the charging network doesn't factor in for us.

Agree. Love the i4, esp w/ the hatch, but bought the Tesla as it was about 60% of the i4 price (tax break) with the only charging network that actually works in US and continuing improvements over time. Maybe I’ll get a used i4 in 2-3 years.

Great review. Unlike other reviews that talk about useless things, this one discusses actual decision-making points

Rule of thumb (approximate) for every 3 db increase the sound doubles in volume. The truth is more complicated but...

I just came home with this car today. Alpine white BMW i4 2025. Immediately watched you to know Moe about my car. Traded my 2018 530e with sports package. This seems fun too. Thank you for the review.

WAIT- who says 5 foot 12? lol.. I’m here just for this. I have the i4, love it, all my coworkers have the Model 3… pass on Tesla

I like the i4 a lot actually, I think it’s nice looking and premium, and range is good (if accurate). Price is a little steeper but this seems more premium to me. The only thing I’m surprised at is that as they have been doing EVs longer than others like Mercedes, I don’t understand why this feels like it’s just an EV platform dropped on top of their standard 4 series platform… why not repackage and improve with a separate platform, so you can have things like a frunk. Seems shortsighted to me but overall I like the i4.

17:06 the dog thing.... 💯🔥 I also love dogs, but people do all this codependency stuff and then wonder why their dogs have anxiety issues. They trained their dog to!

I have a 2018 Model 3 that I bought in 2023. I really like the car and it's performance, but would prefer the i4's design and interior fit and finish. It seems that the BMW handles and drives better as well. With the inevitable BMW access to the Supercharger network, that's a plus, but the public charging infrastructure overall in Southern California makes owning any EV pretty easy, even if you don't have a charger at home. I likely will move on to an i4 in the upcoming months/years.

You don't have to tell the BMW to condition the battery if you're going to charge. It's setting you toggle to do it automatically as soon as you set to navigate to a charger. I owned a 2022 Model S and I now own a 2023 BMW iX. I'd say the tech is equal between the two with some advantages for both. This practiced myth of "Tesla has the better tech" is just memorized tropes people repeat.

Ive test driven both of these, the interior on the BMW is seriously a step up over the model 3 but when I test drove the BMW I was seriously disappointed with the acceleration, it really taps out after 40mph, just does not have the pull I wanted for an electric vehicle. The suspension on the BMW is far ahead of tesla too

You are smart. No comment on addressing the Tesla Model 3.
Tesla lab top on wheel. 😅. I had GT3RS, GT4, c63s but I love my M3p over those German cars. My model 3P Quick, Convenient, efficient and I charged my M3P at home. Retired now. Tesla work for me. I sold my cayenne S for model X Lovin it.
