That's great. I think joining the US Navy is an honor. I often visit the US military and I love them .

I was in the US Naval Reserve from 1984 to 1992. I did not do any active duty, just boot camp etc. I have to say that I hated every minute of it. The ship I was stationed on was mostly active duty personnel and they hated us ( they called us reserve puke). Even though it was only 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks a year it was difficult to transition from civilian life to sailor for the weekend. There were many times that we did not have a rack to sleep in and had throw down a mattress and sleep on the deck. I had a demanding regular job with long hours and my boss was a A-hole which did'nt help my mood on reserve weekend. If I had joined regular active it would have been 10 times easier to make rate and I would have received some benefits. I'm sure the reserves are different now, but when I was in it was a joke.

It’s also a great way to get into a naval shipyard, their SurgeMain programs have you working and earning qualifications right next to shipyard personnel.

My Machinist Mate CPO Dad inspired me to join the USN right out of high school. One of the smartest things I ever did.

So my dad is in the navy reserve as PO2 and my mom is active duty as a chief warrant officer, my dad keeps telling me to join the navy but I already have a career plan to be a landscaper now if now you guys had landscaping or jobs where I don't have to take the ASVAB because some landscaping jobs don't have to do math. Then I would really freely join at no cost

Fun fact: Corinne Mustin was a cousin of Wallis, Duchess of Windsor. She introduced Wallis to one of the first Navy pilots, Earl Winfield Spencer. Wallis married him within months, after a whirlwind romance.

Spencer was the very first commanding officer of NAS North Island at Coronado. Small world …

I'm joining the Navy reserves while I continue my career but I do wish the Navy reserves offer more benefits like the Army reserves

Just putting this here because you want recruits. Seriously Bud light should be just ONE example to you. It’s like our military doesn’t care about the real men and women in the force like they used to. Example: if a man gets a woman pregnant the military used to make sure the guy took care of the child financially. Not anymore, I actually have a niece who has 2 children (proven) from a military man and guess what, no responsibility was forced even when she talked directly to his leader. Are you guys trying to demoralize what America stands for or just purposefully trying to make us weak? Just asking because you question why your enrollment is Down. Common sense would say look who you serve, what you have forced and how political you are. Turning off likes or dislikes doesn’t work. Maybe you should turn off comments too so you can join the rest of the upside down group and ignore comments and facts. 🙄

I got out in '88. Later that year I got a cold call from a reserve recruiter. Want to know if I was interested in the reserves. I said sure. Never heard from him again.
