I think I have seasonal depression even I'm a very positive, cheerful person in nature but the cold starts in the fall and not ends until Spring. The days are shorter, sunset too early, too cold, too windy and not much outdoor activities.

I'm 72 years old now and I've had SAD all my life. For me it starts right around the time of the fall equinox and slowly gets worse and worse until about the first or second week of December, then it starts to ease up a bit (I guess because I've gotten used to it). But it doesn't fully go away until around the second or third week of February. But the absolute worst time for me is from around the middle of October through the whole month of November. I don't think it affects me as bad now as it did when I was younger.

Ever since I was a teenager I've had a tendency to drink too much during that darker months period, as a means of self-medicating for the depression. But fairly recently I started taking Niacin (500 mg. - 1, 000 m.g. per day) which really takes the edge off of the depression for me. I took Niacinamide for awhile and it worked ok, but the straight Niacian works better, for me anyway. The straight Niacin gives you a skin flush, which is uncomfortable at first, but you get used to it fairly soon (whereas the Niacinamide doesn't give you the flush). I buy the Niacin online from Vitacost.com. I buy the 500 mg. capsules (Vitacost brand). I hope this helps.

Gets really bad around February for me. I’m from Cleveland. There will be days I slept a whole 9 hours, ate healthy, met up with a friend, and had no frustrations, and yet I’ll still feel this sense of melancholy or a feeling like something doesn’t feel right.

Feeling of beeing constanlty TRAPED, from first day of cold weather up untill first few warm days. I thought this doesn't exist, and I am just an ordinary 'winter hater', I ruin my life every winter then build it up again and it lasts only two months - july & august.
I get nervous even thinking about winter is coming in 2 months from now :/

🎵Seasonal depression's got me sleeping off the days. And I've wasted all my time feeling gray. When the sun peeks out I sit outside and bask in my tiny bit of light to warm...the cold that I feel inside...🎵

i love the winter, but last winter was the most difficult time of my life. i really do love the cold, the snow, Christmas, and a lot of other things that happen during the winter. however, from November to February, i missed at least 20-25 of my morning classes, had nightmares for days on end, cried all the time, and could not feel motivated to do anything. i wonder if this is what i’m facing...

I actually prefer the night when everything is quiet and dark with a littel light from the moon and the wind is gentely touching my skin. Who else ?

It’s weird because I love winter and fall but I’ve been getting depressed around this time for about 3 years. It really sucks that I spend my favorite seasons as a depressed mess

i once told my mom that i might have had depression but then she said it was only drama and confusion because i was always happy smiling and laughing.
i think i may have SAD . My city is a very cold city 75% of the year an when the start cold start my energy kinda get lower a little bit . I usually stop doing my projects ( the most fun thing for me to do ) and just stay in my bed usually listening to music, watching animation or just playing cellphone mini games . I lost all my motivation and people get mad at me for it .
i am studying mental issues and i know its wrong to self diagnose myself but i can relate to a lot of things in this video
( lose of energy, easily distracted, sleeping a lot, basically living from sweets even tho i dont like sweets etc... )
even tho i still think i dont . i will ask my friends if they feel like this too and then if they don't i will seak a professional.
Thanks for the video

Summer makes me just give up on life, i tend to stop eating as much as I should, i deal with fomo (fear of missing out) and feel as if I'm a bad person for feeling sad during the summer, winter is the season I feel relaxed and happy, sure its dark depressing and gloomy which pretty much explains myself and because I'm an introvert I prefer indoor weather instead of the weather that causes me to pretty much break down instantly

"SAD is thought to be linked to a lack of sunlight, or warm weather"

Well, I'm the complete opposite, the only times I truly feel happy is during fall and Halloween, or just before the sun rises or sets. I'd happily go to sleep for the duration of the extra months just to skip all the other seasons. The feelings I experience during fall are nothing but pure euphoria, and I get DEEP depression at the end of halloween, knowing I'm going to have to wait a whole year to feel true happiness again.
