While in Rome back in 2005, I put an empty wallet in my back pocket to see if someone on the subway system would lift it. It didn't get picked. I always use money belts in Italy. Other people to watch out for are the ones wanting you to sign a petition. Your signature in a foreign country is worthless. They may be using that as a ruse to pick your pocket. Or, identity theft.

This makes me think: if you're traveling in a group, there might be at least one person without any valuables who can concentrate on watching over the other persons without having to worry about being a victim themselves during that time.

I solved my pickpocket problem by not visiting Italy. Now if I get picked it’s by a local thus keeping my money in the district its win win

First 2 hours in Rome, I was going to lose my wallet containing everything 😢.
Only carry few changes and copies of your documents.

I got robbed at the central train station in Milan 😢, and the women was so swift that I didn’t even notice and my wallet was taken out of my bag 😢

Never going to Italy. Since the government decides not to do anything about the crime in the pickpockets, then they don’t value my dollars to visit so I will never go there. Going on vacation and spending the money for vacation is supposed to be relaxing. You shouldn’t have to defend yourself and your belongings every single second so why bother
