I agree . . . .HDHP suck! While it is better than having no insurance at all, it is no gift (even with the toted so called benefits of an HSA). These high deductible plans are disproportionate to incomes (unless of course, you are a high earner and/or rich) I hate Somebody help . . . what can you do?

HDHP really are only a suitable option for higher income individuals. Ultra high worth individual don't have insurance, when you have 100 million in assets you can create cash to deal with any medical need. Higher income people who use a HDHP are doing a lite verison of this. They pay all their health care cost, up until a more catastrophic situation happens - then the insurance company steps in. The question is if this promotes people to actually seek care when they need it. I'm sure that people with hdhp are using health services less - and that may led to people being more unhealthy.
