Hello sir I am from Tripura last month we had our pre-board exam, TBSE board, , i choose standard, , , , and regarding maths question I had one doubt, , , i didn't get that question anywhere else, , it's very difficult for me to do and understand that question, , , Please could you be able to help me, , i will be very thankful to you, , , the question are in AP, with first term 5 and common difference 4.Evaluate :-

Sn=3250
3250=n/2[2a+(n-1)d]
From the above equation, we will get 2 values of n:-
20 and -65/3
We will write 20 as the answer because time is a scalar quantity and we can’t write it with a -ve sign.

Answer: It will take him 20 months to clear the loan.
We will use the formula of Sum of 'n' terms of an AP. The formula is given by Sn= n/2 [2a + (n - 1) d].

Explanation:

Let 'n' be the loan cleared in 'n' months.

Amounts are in the form of AP with first term (a) = 20 and common difference (d) = 15

Total amount = Rs 3250

Sn = n/2 [2a + (n - 1)d]

3250 = n/2 [2(20) + (n - 1)15]

3250 = n/2 [40 + 15n - 15]

6500 = n [15n + 25]

15n2 + 25n - 6500 = 0

3n2 + 5n - 1300 = 0

3n2 + 65n - 60n - 1300 = 0

n (3n + 65) -20 (3n + 65) = 0

(n - 20) (3n + 65) = 0

n = 20 and n = -65/3

Here, the months cannot be negative. So, we take n = 20

Therefore, the loan amount is cleared in 20 months.

Also
We know
S2 = 2a +d
So d = 6
Then Ap will be -1, 5, 11
And hence
an = -1 + (n - 1)d
= 6n - 7
