Only correction would be that the 2nd Amendment doesn't give you the right to own a firearm. The forefathers saw this as inalienable right that one was born with, not granted by another. The 2nd Amendment prohibits the government from taking it away.

An AR 15 is NOT a "higher level" gun. It is simply a modern semi automatic rifle. Semi automatics of all types have been in common use for 100 years. The only similarities between an AR and a military weapon is cosmetic. It round is a medium powered cartridge. The military has been researching larger and more powerful ammunition because historically the round has been under powered. So please don't perpetuate the notion that an AR 15 is some mythicaly powerful weapon of war.

In order to have a well regulated militia, one needed to train with others and needed their OWN firearm bec they weren't provided.
Farmers, merchants, lawyers, eligible older teens, trappers, homesteaders, carpenters, etc. were part of a militia.

This shows that it's about control, buying an AR15 weapon with 50 round magazine is questionable for example. So now looking at Australia, knowing there is more guns and less gun crime, means it is only arrogance that prevents USA changing it's ways. Children shooting siblings and even parents by accident from a pistol lying around, kids blowing their own heads off with an uzi at rifle range etc .... the idiocy has to stop.
