UBass time! A fun exploration of this new and upcoming instrument that I have a lot of respect for. If you've been curious about a UBass, definitely look into getting one, especially this great example from Kala.

I just played this today. The strings are rubber but that's what makes it so fun to play. They bounce more and sound more like an upright bass. Just a really fun instrument that anyone should have, even if you aren't a true bass player. It makes you want to play.

Using rosin on the fingers has been suggested by most to keep the 'sticking' feeling/sound from the rubber strings!

I´ve got 2 things that came to my mind during your review:
1. die Bridge may look like they are 4 different pieces one for each string, in fact it's one solid piece, so the low E-String may be a tad more quiet due to the higher string tension on the other 3 strings when it comes to plugging the instrument into an amp
2. you mentioned that bass guitars have their fret markers on the 11th fret? don't they have them at 3, 5, 7, 9, 12 as well?

If you use the same plucking technique as you use with an upright bass you will get even more of that upright sound.

If you play U bass with rubber strings, will you get calluses? Can I avoid callasus with rubber strings? Are they softer on my finger tips? I ask as I massage and play the piano. All advice on this matter welcome. Thanks.

How did you hide the end of the strings on each tune pegs?

I'm curious, how would you feel about same type of polymer strings and short scale but with traditional magnetic pickups?
