Kobe is legit the only celebrity death that has made my cry real tears. I never realized how much Kobe meant to me until he was gone. It’s like a piece of my childhood died in that helicopter.

I’m only 2 years younger than Kobe, and I remembering crying for hours at the news. My dad tried, but couldn’t get me to stop. Later I remember Kobe’s tragic death, and just being devastated. It was unreal.

I'm a celtics fan and I was devastated. I was in confirmation class at my church and everybody was talking and thought for sure he was in deep trouble because Freddie Mercury had just passed away. Here he is 30 years later a class act in an inspiration to people who live with chronic illness everywhere. Love Magic!

For the younger folks, Magic went ahead and played in the all-star game that year, and many players were scared to play with him in fear of catching AIDS.

Others went and hugged him before and after the game. Magic got MVP in that game as well.

What amazes me more now that Kobe has passed is his immortalization. Many people both famous, non famous leave us but he will always be around from coast to coast.
