Miki didn’t regret singing, she regretted making singing the only thing she did 24/7. She regretted not doing anything other than singing !! please don’t spread the rhetoric of her not liking singing !!

As a half-Japanese, this literally made me smile and I approve of this message. My dad actually met her in the '90s.

Her cause of death: Uterine cervix cancer

She stopped making music at 2001 after being diagnosed

These tiktoks really reminded me that behind every adult who's been sucked into the boredom of everyday life is a teenager who was just like us a long time ago.

What a shame, I feel bad for her story. Because let's be honest, this is a jam.

Who knew it would be this impactful ~ 50 years later

If only she knew the impact this song would have today ... very sad indeed

My Mom was in the military in the 80s and visited Japan twice. Only twice. I played this song, she opened the door and fumbled through singing the chorus because it unlocked a memory of really liking this song the like 4 times she heard it.

I like the one where the girl’s mom who was from Japan most of her life didn’t know the song but her black dad who was stationed there for 10 years did.

That one video where the daughter is dancing and the mom is just singing her heart out is a gem!

Why do I feel like this’ll be redone in the future but with a 2000’s or 90’s hit like idk “Somebody that I used to know” or “Everybody Talks” something that ALWAYS played on the radio like that
