What Causes Early Extension? | Part 1 Of Early Extension Series

In Part 1 of this video series on how to fix early extension, we're diving deep into what causes early extension and how our setup plays a crucial role. Many of us were taught to hinge from the pelvis, but that can lead to imbalance and early extension. Instead, let's work on a setup that maintains balance and allows us to counterbalance the spine. I'll show you a helpful drill to rewire those patterns and improve your posture and swing.

Just want to say I’ve watched a million videos on this issue.. this is by far the best and most helpful one I’ve found.. broke 80 for my 2nd time ever using this .. Trevor is the best instructor on YouTube hands down 👍

Trevor - I am a three handicap golfer and have taken consistent lessons for I don’t want to say how many years. I have fought early extension my whole life.. thanks to this video. I finally had my aha moment.. I wish I could express the gratitude that I have for you and the way you explain the Golf swing. I just wanted to point out that it was the stance I was using was all wrong. Slightly bending my knees and bending from the chest, I finally became balanced for the first time. I only mention this because I know that there are thousands of guys just like me that have the same problem I was always taught to Bend from the waist and unfortunately, I was top-heavy. So a major shout out to you for your teaching ability. Johnny Dragon.

Finally! Someone that is actually explaining and fixing the goat hump correctly and not another video claiming “how to fix early extension with a chair or trying to sit down.

Excellent!! Have NEVER heard about bending forward at lower chest rather than at pelvis. This change of axis on where to flex forward is a game changer allowing pelvis to move freely and eliminating lumbar strain. keep up the great instruction

This simple setup tweak translated immediately onto the course. So many instructional videos dig right into the mechanics: spine tilt, shaft lean, clearing the hips, etc. All valid, but if you're like me, none of that was going to work because I was too forward of center and I was getting trapped. Most of us weekend warriors just need a little reset to get back to basics sometimes. Thanks for this.

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. All the drills in the world haven’t helped. I need to know the biomechanics of why I keep standing up and coming off the tush line in transition.
Thanks Trevor👍

Love this. Definitely going to practice this as early extension is my biggest struggle! Thanks for putting this out. Excited for more!

I am what they call advance senior player. Always struggled with early extension . This was the best detail that has really resonated with me. I am a visual learner, this was both visual and theoretical. Very thankful for this video. I have included this in my practice sessions . I have honestly picked up some good compression in my ball striking. I can hear the golf ball swishing down the fairway now. I do refer back to this video before I practice especially to check my set up. Peace.

The point about the body's median line and how that's the most natural balance point is so great, and I've never heard it before. For once a physiology-based golf tip makes sense! Thank you sir

My man…. Just found your content and early extension is my biggest problem with the driver. Put the ball under my feet and filmed myself. Figured out I was slightly outside with my takeaway and was standing up. This drill may have just changed my golf swing because I was finally able to swing freely. Ball speed jumped from 156 to 165. Center strikes way more often. Thank you for this. You got a new subscriber.

🎉I’ve always wondered if my “posture” was correct- even though I didn’t know it was causing my early extension. So this video feels like a Lightning bolt igniting multiple light bulbs in my mind! Great video thank you! 🙏

Great lesson - needed that. I'm always over-rotating or feel out of balance on my follow-thru (partly because of my swing speed).

Wow! What I noticed is core activation as soon as I did it and much more stable through the swing. Also noticed less discomfort from sciatica issue. Brilliant

TS golf, thanks for this very informative video on early extension (E Ext), which is something i have always struggled with for my golf swing. Early in a round i do a good job of being aware of E Ext but as I get tired later in the round, it difficult to keep under control.
