The BEST Reissue I've Seen in Years

The TC Electronic Stereo Chorus, Pitch Modulator, and Flanger (SCF) has been one of the benchmark analog stereo chorus pedals throughout history - being used by some of the most legendary guitarists from Eric Johnson, to Larry Carlton, and Joe Bonamassa for its lush and subtle modulation. However, for almost a decade, this iconic pedal had been discontinued because of the difficulty to source and produce this product the proper BBD chips for its signature sound. Luckily, TC revived this gem , and even made some improvements for today's pedalboards, such as changing the hardwired AC plug to a more standard 9VDC power input.

Today we'll compare my vintage TC SCF to the Reissue SCF and see if this new and improved pedal can hold up to the vintage classic we all know and love.

Does the TC SCF Reissue faithfully re-create the sonic heritage of the original? Tell us your thoughts below!

I'm too simple for this. Two amps, wet dry, in, out, and around, back in again and into my computer. I truly appreciate that some folks do all this and get INCREDIBLE dreamy tones. Maybe some day I'll go down this road but for now all that makes my hair hurt.

On a completely separate note, that's a damn good looking Fender, has a gorgeous fretboard

Got it when it first came out, it really does sound great, very lush chorus and "that" 80s sound is there.

Mason you don’t give yourself credit for your playing - you are extremely talented in this respect… and without question in your understanding of sound!

Thank you so much for the video, purchasing today!

I love mine! I’ve been hoping they’d do a reissue with these feature for YEARS! Great playing too, Mason…you don’t give yourself enough credit. You have a wonderful dynamic & expressive touch on the guitar. 👏👏👏

I have had the original for 30 years. It was the first major pedal purchase I made when I started out. My favorite 2 chorus pedals are the TC and the Arion. I can't remember how much I spent on the TC originally. The other pedal I bought at the time was the red knob Demeter Tremulator for $180. That thing was and still is a beast.

The original was also the first TC pedal ever.
I never got the original because of the power supply, so I was thrilled to buy the reissue with the 9v.
This guy with the Keeley Halo is just glorious.
Cheers.

Hey Mason I’m a recent subscriber and I really appreciate your channel and your knowledge. I’m an older guy and watched this technology evolve. It’s taken me decades to understand half of your knowledge. The video on Fulltone was sad but very well done. Thanks for putting it together.

Ohhh God! Perfect pedal! The very best of Eric Johnson's guitar tone!

I had the older pedal.. paid $300 plus for it.. let it go in hard times.. always thought about replacing with the gold… the sweetwater dropped price to $80… now I ordered one, thanks for the comparison, just what I wanted to hear.

Love this video Mason! Joe Bonamassa still uses the pedal. He has it "always on" very subtly and it's behind his amps. He says if it's off he can hear the difference but when it's on he doesn't really notice it. I am going to buy one. I have always been intrigued by this pedal. What I really admire about your YouTube channel is how it isn't a shameless plug channel. I own several of your pedals and they are phenomenal. You have every right to plug your stuff and to be proud of how good your products are but it's nice to see the approach you've taken.

Keeping it simple I'd have to say the newest one for the win. Yea TC ! Loved your grips and voicing choices, Sir.

First of all this is exactly what I was talking about we can really hear what's going on when you are doing the playing through your own rig. (Fantastic playing Dynamics and sound there dude by the way... it makes the rest of us want to go get our rig and set it up the same way and start playing) I knew nothing about these pedals so I'm going to assess them from not having any knowledge prior to this video. For the chorus comparison the first pedal sounded sweeter to me. But for the pitch and the flanger the reissue just had a super Splendid tone to them. Now every single person who subscribes to your channel is going to be working on their police Tunes for the next week

Oh wow, didn't think that little test video I did would have gone this far and wide! Thanks heaps for the shoutout, it's definitely given me the extra push to finish editing and releasing some of the others I've shot.

Would love a chance to check out some of your stuff one day.

TC Electronics did make some great pedals. This is one of them. I still use a couple of their pedals. One thing I can say about TC is you always got quality. I never had an unwanted noise issue issue with the TC equipment.

In 1988, my live rig was two 100 watt Jubilee heads, two, 4x12, ’sTC Chorus, and one of those Rockman Stereo Echo half rack units in the loops…I remember the TC Chorus was pretty subtle, but it sounded great….I haven’t thought about that pedal in years until I saw this..

I love the sounds that you're getting out of your signal chain. Regarding your description of the chain I'm more of a visual learner. It would be great to see a quick chart, similar to the one that you did for your signal chain videos expressly for that.. maybe just off to the side a little bit so we can see you play but see a visual of the ins and outs of your rig. Thanks so much for playing that out. Very cool.
