Pruning a neglected young PEACH tree

We have a peach tree in our backyard that's about three years old, and we decided to finally prune it in the early spring. Typically, you'll want to prune about 40% of your peach trees each year to allow for greater sunlight, to eliminate weak branches, and to keep your trees from getting too tall. In our case, we hadn't pruned it up until now, so you'll see how we decided to select three main scaffold branches and one main trunk to support a good yield. After pruning, we applied an organic plant guard paint to protect against sunburn and insects. We hope to show you a great yield in the near future!

What does this peach tree look like 2 years later?

I received a peach tree and an apple tree as a gift a couple weeks ago. (Both about 4 or 5 feet tall.) I planted both, the apple tree is already filling out with leaf growth but the peach tree…nothing. No sign of any change. The ends of the small limbs that were already on it look dry, but the base of the limbs as well as the trunk are all green. Is there something I should have done differently? Maybe cut off the tips or just leave it or just be patient?
