Review: Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion (Reviewed on PS5, also PS4/Switch/XSX/Xbox One/PC)

As the only PSP game I played for an extended period of time, getting into Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion was always bound to be a treat. Its claims of being “More than a remaster” made it sound great, but how does it fair compared to more modern JRPGs? My wife spoiled me with a switch Oled, and I managed to grab a physical copy of Crisis Core, but due to time constraints I have only gotten through the beginning mission. But that little tidbit was freaking awesome, I can't wait to get off work and play some more

Crisis Core was an absolute treat on PSP, and I'm so glad it's available on modern platforms now so more people can experience it.
I've actually yet to grab Reunion myself so far, there have been so many amazing games this year and I'm still not caught up @[]@
I actually still have my PSP and the original, which I don't think I ever finished, so I'm tempted to give that another run through and maybe even have it fresh in my mind when playing the remaster

Always such a great watch, I honestly have not yet played Crisis Core in any form, although I do have it for the PSP. Hope in 2023 to get more into getting through some of the backlog for the hand held and retro consoles I have, and this will def be in the list of them when I do get to the PSP. Always such great and quality content. I haven't played FF7 or the FF7R, but want to play this first. I know people say spoilers but I don't really plan on playing FF7R, so Im not bothered by spoilers, as I kind of know the main spoilers already thanks to the internet

As someone who considered FF7 the best game of all time and have played it a dozen times my expectations were high playing it on PSP many years ago but I thought it was a bit disappointing. It wasn’t bad but it was no we’re close to FF7. At some point I’d like to give it another go in this remaster but since I have already beat the game and the story is the same I’ll wait for a sale.

Was planning to finish Star Ocean last month and then play this when it came out, but life managed to derail that and still haven't even finished SO! Still going to try on my time off and get into Crisis Core. Happy to hear this runs well on Linux/Ubuntu. Wonder if it will get a lot of mods? Some of the FF7R mods are amazing. Playing with Squall, Rinoa, 2B, Sailor Moon characters etc. Although of course not the best for a serious first run :)

The only thing about playing Crisis Core first is that it spoils the greatest twist in the original FF7. Not sure how they're going to handle it in the remake, but then again I guess they already half spoiled it anyway.



I'm talking about Cloud being a grunt rather than an actual member of SOLDIER. The way all the hints were there, and when it is finally realized and everything suddenly clicks into place and makes sense--it is one of the moments that truly made FF7 stand out, in its time.

i never got around to finishing the psp version but this one is much better. i still see some of the issues from back then but overall im enjoying the game. Happy holidays if you celebrate them Tara and nice review.

As someone who’s never played the original CC or 7 I’ve enjoyed this game quite a lot, primarily because of Zack such a loveable goofball

Fun fact I'm assuming you didn't know:
If you walk on the edges of the map and turn the camera away from the center of the map, you'll avoid random encounters in missions.

"Do it right" and play a prequel first that came out years later and expects you to know the plot of the original game and spoils the biggest twist in FF7 is such a flawed idea that people get in their heads. The correct way is always release order, whether it's movies, games, etc.
