This song has been one of my all time favorites since it was first released. I had no idea, then, that its message would be so close to home.

My teenage son has battled, and won against AML, a rare and aggressive form of leukemia. He was diagnosed in August of 2022, just a week after his 15th birthday. In January of last year he had a bone marrow transplant, his 14 year old brother was his donor.

We are 1 year, 1 month and 2 weeks since his transplant. He is doing amazing and living out the message of this song.

He gained a deep love for writing, poetry specifically, and has begun the process of getting an adult and youth poet laureate program in our city, to help combat illiteracy and to create an avenue for other amateur poets to express and share their art.

I’m beyond proud to get to have a front row seat to his life as he chases his dreams and life his second chance at life to the fullest he possibly can.

I've been through hard times this year and years before being despised by a husband who thought I never did enough for him. I went back to work at 50 after raising my sons who are the world to me. I didn't know if I could make it and I'll always be grateful to the man who made me feel I could be "useful"at my age. There's always hope somewhere.

A very inspirational song - I was always too 'afraid' to do what I really wanted for fear of upsetting people/being sneered at etc etc and now I'm nearly 70, I feel I have wasted an awful lot of my life taking the 'accepted' route. Don't let other people's opinions hold you back, is what I'm trying to say. In the end, the people who matter only want you to be happy - the others can take a flying leap as they might have ulterior motives for you not succeeding at what you truly want.
