By placing the feedthrough terminator on the signal generator, you've double-terminated at the siggen side and got no termination at all at the multimeter end. The variation in multimeder readings over frequency might (maybe) be due to this trap, and not the fault of the multimeter at all: EEVblog #652 - Oscilloscope & Function Generator Measurement Trap

(Specifically, I mean around 7:00 when you're sweeping through frequencies and seeing interesting behavior).

The latest iteration of this meter (AM-5xx series) seems to have addressed some of your complaints, particularly the bar graph is much easier to read at any angle.
