An exclusive video shows five kids' plight to escape a sewer system. The five friends were exploring the sewers in Staten Island, New York, with only the light of a cellphone guiding them. All of a sudden, they lost their way. Amazingly, the sixth graders finally received a cellphone signal and called 911. An operator tried to lead rescuers to their location. As the kids started to scream, rescuers were able to find them.

These boys didn't break into a home, didn't kill anyone, wasn't on any game system they were outside exploring. They did the same thing we did but the only difference they had a cell phone to help them out when they got lost. These boys were smart, brave and just being boys. Thanks to the rescue unit for getting those boys home

They're probably embarrassed right now, but oh will they have a story to tell their kids and grandkids. Glad they got out safe!

This is too cute but I’m glad they got out safely. Even their little faces look like a movie. 🤣

“All the boys we spoke with have all been grounded” 😂😂😂 Omg, this is one of the cutest news reports ever. I imagine the other two’s parents were so strict, they wouldn’t let them talk to the press about it, “I don’t care that inside edition, I don’t care who is calling, it could be the president, you don’t get to talk to anyone outside of school and home until you’re not grounded anymore!” 😂😂😂.

Glad they made it out safely, though.

Glad to see 6th grade boys out getting into good old fashioned trouble.. not just couped up at home on youtube.

Kids do things like this. When I was a kid several of us climbed a 100 ft. Water tower in the middle of the night. Our parents thought we were "camping out" in our friends backyard. In reality we were roaming the streets getting into all kinds of mischief. Brings back memories.

This is a refreshing story in account to all the horrors on the news lately. I’m glad these boys found their way out. Kids will be kids and they were just innocently exploring as they should.

Glad that some kids still go outside and adventure and that they're ok. When I was a kid, we had to use our internal GPS system to save our lost selves. Good times.

"And yes, the three boys we spoke with have all been grounded, " I don't know why but that cracked me up 😂 I'm glad they're all safe and hopefully actually learned a lesson as they said.

The last line “yes, all three of those children we spoke with have been grounded.” I spit my drink out 🤣 Poor kiddos.

Lucky no rain came and flash flooded the place. These can be pretty dangerous very fast.

Damn this totally is something me and my friends would have done. One summer we found every creek in our neighborhood and went swimming. One had a swing…one had a beach. We had a blast and had some close calls. We were always exploring. Lucky for us we lived in the suburbs of a small underdeveloped town. No opened sewers. Happy they found them and they now have a great story to tell.

I am impressed. Kids who actually leave their safe spaces and Metaverse and go out into the real world. Definitely newsworthy.

Ps. The takeaway is not to stop exploring. It should be to equip them with the skills to go and find their way back, by themselves.

It’s good to see kids exploring and just being kids. Glad they were found safe. They’ll always remember this and hopefully they will never lose their sense of adventure. 😊
