Workbench Mistakes (Thus Far)

I've come to learn that all woodworking is, is just a continuous string of making mistakes and hopefully learning from them. I find at the beginning, it seems like all you do is make mistakes and it can be frustrating, but somewhere along the way you start to realize you are making less mistakes and you are actually coming up with better solutions to the mistakes you made before. However, there will always be mistakes. Keep making them!

All of the mistakes you list are fixable. I think your bench turned out pretty good to be honest. I also recently built my own workbench out of Doug-fir. The half-lap stretchers will be more than enough stability so long as you glue and either lag screws or dowel pins for strength. You can fill in the leg mortices with wedges to tighten them up. As for the vise just move it to the other end so it can be useful to you. Great job! Look forward to seeing more.
