Rishi Sunak was heckled by victims and families of the infected blood scandal as he said the Government would continue to delay compensation until the inquiry’s final report.
The Prime Minister was giving evidence after Sir Brian Langstaff, the inquiry chairman, took the unprecedented step of recalling hearings to address the Government’s sluggish response over compensation.
However, Mr Sunak said it was right for the Government to wait until after the inquiry publishes its final report in autumn before announcing its compensation plan, despite fears that more people will die before receiving payments.
