ICE 3 passing station at 320 km/h ! 200 mph

Rare look on German ICE traveling at 320 km/h, which is currently the highest speed for German trains but only allowed on France’ SNCF LGV lines...
At the moment of filming it was the highest regular speed of any train in the world, along some SNCF’s TGVs.

Is the train really passing at 320 km/h? Short answer: No, but close
An ICE 3 is 200.84m long.
For calculating the time, you have to use an external tool to view the video frame by frame
The head leaves the frame at 9.29s.
The last part of the train leaves the frame at 11.71s.
So it took the train 2.42s to travel 200.84 Meters.
So the train drives at 82.992 m/s or 298.77 km/h

TL;DR: The Train drives at roughly 299 km/h.

In Japan, the Tohoku Shinkansen between Utsunomiya and Morioka runs at 320 kph, and is now being extended to Shin Aomori.

A 6 car ICE3 is approx 200m long according to Wikipedia. I count 72 frames taken to pass a fixed point. It is 30fps video so it took 2.4s. Giving a speed of 200/2.4 ~ 83m/s or 299kmh.

even more impressive when you are on one doing over 300km/h.Amazingly smooth and you actually have little idea that you are travelling as fast as an F1 car.

I CAN MAKE IT 640 KM/H. {I'd Press The 2x Speed Button}

I feel like people are not realising this is in France
More precisely at Champagne-Ardenne TGV

Wasn’t aware this comment section was a meeting place for physic engineers with a PhD in mathematics. They do seem not be able to get the same result though 🤔

Besides discussion about speed nice catch! These trains are quite fast and therefore difficult to record. With a blink of an eye they've rushed through. This said: cool clip. Best regards from Spain 😊

I had to watch this again as I blinked in the first one.

At this precise moment in time I wish I was on any train going anywhere and i don’t care what speed it’s doing, I’m just so fed up with this lockdown

Yes the speed is 320 km/h in Germany that train runs only at a maximum of 300 km/h

How did you figure that it is travelling at 320 km/h ?

This is an ICE Velaro D which has different characteristics to the ICE3. Eyeballing the first catenary post, it took approx 2.5 seconds for the 200 metre train to pass. So get ready for math time: (200 / 2.5)*3.6 [kph] =288 kph (+/- 5 kph). Sorry, not 200 mph. However the Velaro D is designed to operate at 200 mph.

this speed is really fast, the train is such a good technology
