Windsor, Ont., police trying to avoid escalation, deputy police chief says

Jason Bellaire, deputy chief of Windsor police, says officers are trying to use negotiations and diplomacy to get the demonstrators to clear the area near the Ambassador Bridge. He says police 'will escalate the situation if needed, but will try to avoid it.'

The police stopped when the elderly woman stood her ground. They did not want the optics of them pushing a senior citizen back physically being broadcast to the world. One person does make a difference
