Well of Death - Mechanics Problem (Force Equations)

preview_player
Показать описание
Well of Death (or Maut ka Kuan) is when riders ride motorcycles or cars on the inside surface of a near vertical wall. Its an interesting Physics Problem.

How do such heavy vehicles hang almost perpendicular to a vertical wall? What are the forces involved? How are the forces balanced to create such Equillibrium? What is the velocity that riders must attain to create such equillibrium state? What is it's relationship with other parameters?

In this video I discuss the nature of forces involved, and obtain the nature of velocity that riders must maintain to create constant height. I discuss various surfaces of such well - Parabolic Curved wells, Conical shaped wells, Spherical wells, Cylindrical Wells

The rider is just as valuable as newton, his whole family was balanced on him and bike👏👏

Gave JEE back in 2018. What a blast from the past :) Thank you for immortalizing solutions to problems that once tormented us.

I've experienced to see this well of death once. At the childhood I don't know that I'm going to read physics but now your explanation amazed me. The way you explained is interesting. Now I can explain it . Thanks a lot sir . Great job sir. 👌

This explains the total weight balance.
But the total weight acts through the centre of gravity, thereby giving a downward turning moment ...
So, please try to find a solution to add to the first part that was a praiseworthy effort...
Thank you sir, ❤ for nice explanation !!

This is very interesting thank you. But what about balancing the rotational moments? I can’t figure out how. The weight is applied at the center of mass, which is approximately at half the height of the bike. Then if one calculate the moments around the point of contact between the bike and the wall, there is a resultant “downwards” rotational moment. Thus, why doesn’t the bike rotate downwards?

What I want to know is if the motorcycle under power is running on the wall what would happen if the the wall or cylinder started rotating the opposite direction at the same speed to where the motorcycle looked like it was standing still, would it fall to the bottom or stay on the wall?

Sir if I am asked due to which force the motorcyclists is not falling?

Is this centripetal force or centrifugal force?
I'm confused here.
I think it's centrifugal force.

If i rotate a stone which is binded with thread in a circular motion then it is due to centripetal force due to tension of thread which is equal to centrifugal force.

Kindly explain if possible.

Fun Fact : Riders are unknown about these equation of motion, horizontal and vertical components of forces and curcular mothion 😆😂

Sir can you please help me with the solution to this problem:

An ant is climbing a hemispherical bowl of radius r and friction coefficient of the surface is mu. What is the maximum height it can climb before falling?

how to proof this without pseudo force

sir, isn't this centrifugal force applicable only if we see from rider's frame i.e. non inertial frame ?

Sir if surface is not symmetrical, then the slop of surface at different point will be different, means tan theta will be different, then the speed required at different point will be different. So, sir can we say that if we make the well of death from unsymmetrical surface then it will be more thrilling??
