The death riders of India | BBC News India

The well of death, called "maut ka kuan" in Hindi, is a jaw-dropping show where drivers almost defy gravity to ride their bikes and cars inside a giant wooden barrel-like structure. The BBC's Anshul Verma spent time with some of these stuntmen to find out their stories, and what keeps them going in this dangerous profession.

As an Indian 🇮🇳,
I don't have anything to say against it, it's risky job but they are doing it on their own will.

I remember every minute of this spectacular and daring stunts by the men and women, when I first saw this 15 years back. I was shocked and mesmerised by the show.

3:04 People who drive a car have a fixed salary of 40-45K+, and they also earn money from each round as per the sale of the tickets. People who are on bikes, get a fixed salary of 35-40K+ and also get money from each round. My father runs a Mela business in West Bengal, and we have the contacts of 2-3 Maut Ka Kua organizers. I have been with those people who display such stunts. Initially, I also used to think that they don't get enough money but that's not true. They do have a good income to spend a mid-class life in India.

grand showing. I am reminded of Diana L. Eck and her respect for India: DARSAN, Seeing the Divine Image in India. A book kept at my work station because of fascination with India languages, unity of diversity, large dams, and an overall view from India, not Britain..

सरकार को चाहिए कि कोई ऐसा प्लेटफार्म हो जिस पर ऐसे कलाकारों का रजिस्ट्रेशन हो और अभी कुछ सहायता राशि दी जाए
