I was baptized in the Holy Spirit in prison back in 83 when the Catholic chaplain was a charismatic priest came in and heard my confession. I started praying in tongues and receiving visions. When I got out of prison in 85 I was baptized in the Holy Spirit again when I met a healing priest named Father Ralph Diorio and spent 5 hours with him one on one. Been out of prison serving Jesus since

Back in late 90’s I was praying and the gift came to me. Soon after my mother was dying and I wanted to receive communion at her service, I drove to La Salette shrine in Attleboro Ma., I was kneeling praying when a stranger (a mom with children ) approached me, said the priest is ready for you. I was surprised because I had never told anyone I was there for confession. I went into the confessional, started my confession when the priest interrupted me to ask why I was there?, I will admit I answered not nicely that I was there only because I wanted communion and didn’t know where, what church I belonged . I speak in tongues, do you know what that is?”He said “do you know that Jesus loves you ?”. I answered awful but said “yeah, yeah yeah” . He said “no, Jesus loves you, I am the only one hear who speaks in tongues, he asked if he caould pray for me, he knelt down before me with his hands on my head and prayed, it was glorious! Asked me to join the prayer! It was the most wonderful love I have ever experienced. The joy still has not left me. I too have felt it was the Scared Heart of Jesus. All my anger at my mother death left me and was replaced by true love.
He explained to me I was charismatic Catholic and that I belonged. I will always be grateful to that priest and that he saw through my awful attitude and brought me closer to Jesus !!!

I don’t speak in tongues, but always pray for the Holy Spirit to give me the words I need in difficult situations. For example, to the family of a hospice patient who is actively dying. The Holy Spirit never fails to help me.

Father, as you were a former atheist, I'm sure your life has been a real inspiration to so many unbelievers, many of whom are now Catholic.

Isn't that something!? After 16 years and you never knew... what a great share, Fr. Mark.

The shakers and quakers also relied on physical manifestations and emotions to determine the reality of their spirituality . The holy rollers were likewise occupied. What Christ requires is not out feelings or physical wrythings or mystical linguistic outbursts but rather the commitment of the will. No one was ever saved because of how they felt but only by what they willed.

The apostles were given the gift of tongues at pentecost to understand and be understood by those from far cities and villages who spoke different languages.

When St. Paul refered to speaking in tongues he is talking about foreign languages. The gift of tongues is being able to speak in languages that you haven't learned.

Amen Father. After almost 49 years since the Laying On Of Hands in Hainault England as a17 year old I have known the strength and power of The Holy Spirit, His guidance and the assurance of praying as He wills in Tongues. It is good to know regardless of denomination that we can all join in the hymn, “Blessed Assurance Jesus is mine”. Keep up the videos young man, we could be reaching “closing time soon”, leaving us all needing the Christian family wherever we are in the world.

It was the the Charismatic Movement of the 70’s that brought me into the Church. However, not everyone receives the Gift of Tongues. I did not, but I love him with all my heart and pray without ceasing for all. God bless your ministry, Fr. Mark🙏🏽✝️📖

I used to pray in tongues but after listening to Fr. Ripperger I stopped. He has said most people that think they're speaking in tongues are not and that it’s the evil one. He said he has performed many exorcists on old ladies who thought they were praying in tongues. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🕊

Father, with all due respect, I have to complain that you are promoting the charismatic movement. The charismatic movement came from Notre Dame students claiming they were "baptized in the Holy Spirit" after seeking the advice of a Pentecostal pastor on how to pray. We know from our Catholic faith, professed in the creed, that there is ONE baptism, the baptism we receive as infants or as catechumens that wipes away original sin, imparts sanctifying grace into our souls, and makes us members of the Church. There is no other baptism, and the holy doctor Saint Thomas Aquinas (I am writing this on his feast providentially) goes so far as to say that re-baptizers should be punished. Equally wrong is the idea that the gift of tongues is anything other than the gift given to Saint Peter and the apostles on Pentecost, namely that they spoke in their own tongue, but those hearing heard in a different tongue native to them. The Holy Ghost does not give gifts for no reason. He does not inspire people to babble in incomprehensible languages so that they may feel good. The authentic expression of this gift is for preaching the faith to those of foreign nations, as seen in the life of Saint Francis Xavier (for whom it took YEARS to even receive this gift, despite his immense holiness.) The charismatic movement is nothing more than Pentecostalism that has crept into the Church. It is a pernicious idea, precisely because it mixes truth and good feelings with error, and to those who are attached to it, any complaint against it is like ripping a bandage off a fresh wound. Behind the smiles and touchy-feely mood that accompanies many of these charismatic communities is a real woundedness and pride that many of the members display, and I cannot help but sense the devil working in the background.
