On August 7, 2023, the American Red Cross implemented updated FDA eligibility guidelines for donors from the LGBTQ+ Community that allow more donors – like first-time blood donor Doug Anderson and returning blood donor Daniel Bennett – to roll up a sleeve for patients in need. 

We welcome you in our humanitarian mission. The Red Cross is committed to achieving an inclusive blood donation process that treats all potential donors with equality and respect while maintaining donor and patient safety. Training is provided for employees and volunteers to be sensitive to the needs of all potential blood donors.​
