Prof Rob, I can't tell you how much you are helping me teach my grandchild at home since the school has been shut down. Your videos are priceless .

Let 21 minutes of great math lecture be equal to the sum of 2 bams and the beginning of learning how to use math in problem solving!

Thank you for doing this. I was in the advanced math classes in high school but have not used math beyond budgeting and quilting applications (and other everyday type stuff) in years. When my eldest was 5, I found myself wishing I could go back and take the classes like geometry and trig again because I enjoyed it but, you know, atrophy. Anyway, you are allowing me to review without having to pay for a community college course plus childcare for two disabled kids. I REALLY appreciate the opportunity. BTW, I came here through a link on Hip Hughes' page.

And THANK YOU for taking the time to watch my videos! I'm always happy to hear success stories about how helpful my channel is for every type of student:D I started to help one of my own students 2 years ago and it has already exceeded anything I could have imagined. As long as they are helping and the channel is growing, I will be making more...so please spread the word to watch, like and subscribe!!! THANKS:)

I LOVE my blackboards and am one of the few teachers at my school who wanted to keep them. If you think about it, they are much greener for the environment then those stinky white boards and using all those plastic markers:) Just living green...

You do an excellent job of teaching practical application!! Although with tongue in cheek, I must mention that without fixed or variable burdens rolled in, you only have margin, not profit.

Unfortunately I will have to say the answer is yes. The ultimate point of math is to apply it to the real world which means word problems. Some of what you learn in math is only mechanical until you reach a point of understanding that it can be applied to real world settings. This is what makes Calculus so interesting. You start to see how much of the Algebra you have already learned can be applied. Do as many word problems as you can, more than assigned and your skills will improve.

Your question almost sounds like I would try answering it with a Venn diagram. There is no doubt setting up word problems is difficult. At the moment I am working on Calculus video preparing for the upcoming school year and will be getting back to algebra 1 fairly soon. Did you have a specific question, or giving me ideas for a video?

I stumbled across this video this morning, so by the way I love his handwriting, and how he taught these problems. Very well taught. But at the end his hype got me hyped haha 😅😂.
