Learn how to write expressions with variables to describe situations described in word problems.

Grade 6th on Khan Academy: By the 6th grade, you're becoming a sophisticated mathemagician. You'll be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide any non-negative numbers (including decimals and fractions) that any grumpy ogre throws at you. Mind-blowing ideas like exponents (you saw these briefly in the 5th grade), ratios, percents, negative numbers, and variable expressions will start being in your comfort zone. Most importantly, the algebraic side of mathematics is a whole new kind of fun! And if that is not enough, we are going to continue with our understanding of ideas like the coordinate plane (from 5th grade) and area while beginning to derive meaning from data! (Content was selected for this grade level based on a typical curriculum in the United States.)

About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

The "Hannah has 127 books" problem is incorrect. 127 - 300/z is not correct because Hannah is also a student at the school and would be donating the same amount as the other students. The correct equation would be 127 - 300/(z+1).

3:22 This one doesnt make sense to me. At no point in time does it disclose how many books hannah donated. It only states she has 127 books in her collection. why would hannah's number be relevant if we still don't know how many books she donated?

Can someone help me

if it takes angelo 10 minutes at the rate of 1/20 of the easy assignment per minute then he does 10/20 or 1/2 of the assignments that each boy does is a fraction of the whole work. so the expressions for school work in the last column of the table have a sum of 1

I d like to point that this video is teaching a mistake at 2:35. The right answer is (36-2)/c +2 . If you have 4 players Matthew scored 10.5 goals and his teammates scored (36-2)/c = 8.5 goals for a total of 36 goals
