I was born a stoic in 1962, or perhaps a Buddhist? Ryan and his work helped me to become a Stoic. And though I'm on the path to improvement, I still fall short of the Cardinal Values.

For me Donald Robertson is the closest we will get to a Marcus or Epictetus, he is the stoic sage as far as im concerned.

I struggle with stoicism. The messages I get is to numb, detach, not feel.

I’m a passionate person now I have to stop that too. It’s human to feel and all I hear is don’t !

The definition of love in those times was different, no? Same with friendship… which meant more like benefactor or patron (investor) - it was a reputation seal of approval.
