New Orvis Superfine Graphite Fly Rod Review

Half a century ago, Orvis developed the first series of Orvis Graphite Fly Rods—some of the first graphite rods available to anglers. This Superfine series offers anglers new, modern versions that keep the focus on small-stream presentation and tippet protection. They also kept the legendary names, engraving each on the butt cap. It’s definitely a slow rod but the superfine glass is a whole different animal. Both are great rods though

So now in this niche area, the small stream fly rod, Orvis offers the Superfine Graphite (here), the Superfine Glass (a classic), the Superfine Bamboo, and also their regular lines (Clearwater, Recon, and Helios-F) also have rods in this class. The bamboo is a one-off, but essentially Orvis has five rods available in any particular small stream weight. It would be interesting to hear what Mossy Creek guides would describe as the key differences between those five rods for this particular use case. Just my two cents! 😊

I thought the was the glass version at first, I usually fish an Epic 3wt glass rod on mountain streams. May get an orvis superfine glass as well.
